An intense debut with ups, downs and a lot of learning potential

Our first race at the Austrian Outdoor Masters (AOM) in Jesolo , Italy, had everything that defines motorsport: excitement, setbacks, team spirit – and a lot of insights for the future.

It was already clear in advance: the field of 29 teams is strong, the course is challenging, and we are right in the middle of it.

With the exception of Tobi Koini, our drivers were racing on this track for the first time. Two of them were driving AOM karts for the first time.

Qualifying

Tobias Koini placed our number 21 kart in 19th place in the one-shot qualifying. A better finish would certainly have been possible. However, a slip-up by a driver in front of us cost us a few tenths.

The race start

Unfortunately, after the successful start at Le Mans, the race began with a setback. An accident through no fault of our own occurred on the very first lap, costing us a lot of time and positions. Tobias Koini gradually recovered from last place and handed the kart over to Nikolas Jeitler in 15th place after about an hour and a half.

Double is better... not better

As the race progressed, we were slowed down twice by a leaking fuel tank, and our KTM test rider Markus Seifried had two unfortunate accidents. This not only cost us valuable time, but also our rhythm and valuable laps. And thus, any chance of a better result.

Harald Stütz gave it his all and gained position after position. Positions that Nikolas Jeitler unfortunately couldn't hold on to during his stints.

Finishing 23rd out of 29 teams may not sound spectacular on paper, but for us, it's still a success. Because: We finished the race despite all the adversities; the team stuck together, improvised, and pulled through. And that's exactly the foundation we'll build on.

Conclusion:

Jesolo was a deep dive for us – but it also provided us with many important insights: We now know where the problems lie, what we're capable of, and what we need to work on. The motivation is there, and so is the potential. The next race is coming – and we're ready!
